This gorgeous castle can be seen with a quick day trip from Vilnius to the small town of Trakai. The castle itself is situated on its own island and is the highlight of the town. I saw photos of this castle years ago and have been motivated to finally see it with my own eyes ever since. I got lucky as the weather started to clear up a few hours after my arrival.
